This was going to be a fun one! Usually we have some idea of our participants and their age range plus it’s usually dry! (Yes dry! This was a wet one!)
The Big Day Out was held on the weekend of June 25th & 26th 2016 in the lovely setting of Mote Park. We set out thirty drums and thirty chairs and waited to see who came along. On the Saturday, in between the rain we did have some fun. With everyone from 2 year olds to grandmas. Everyone had a great time despite it being a little damp. We were up against some great acts on the main stage not to mention Peppa Pig and Paw Patrol doing meet and greets in the Character Arena! We played some great rhythms and put many smiles on many faces. On Sunday the sun shone and the circle drummed all day. There were some brilliant comments on social media “The drummer dude was brilliant” and “The drumming was great!” are just two of the many positive posts. This was the first Big Day Out in Maidstone and we hope it won’t be the last. Let’s hope we can entertain the festival next year and have more sunshine….. Please.
